Anyone familiar with politics in the United States would certainly not find the name Paul Ryan strange. Since January 1999, Ryan, a member of the Republican Party, has been a member of the lower chamber of the United States Congress, representing the 1st Congressional District of Wisconsin.
Paul Ryan was elected the 54th Speaker of the United States House of Representatives on October 29, 2015, and he was the first Wisconsin native to be elected to that office. Paul Davis Ryan Jr. was born on January 29, 1970, to one of the most prominent families in his hometown of Janesville, Wisconsin. His father Paul Ryan Sr. was a successful lawyer and his mother Elizabeth “Betty” Ryan was a housewife.
The young Ryan received his early education at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Janesville. His history of political office dates back to his time at Joseph A. Craig High School. He was elected class president in his first year of school and served on the school’s board of directors in this capacity as a student representative. He was a Republican and as a member of the National Committee of University Republicans, he served as a volunteer during the campaign of former speaker John Boehner. Paul Ryan is currently married to Janna Christine Ryan (née Little). The couple entered into the bond of marriage on December 2, 2000, in Oklahoma City.
Janna Ryan graduated cum laude in Spanish from Wellesley College. After graduation, she transferred to the Law School of George Washington University. She worked as a tax attorney and corporate lobbyist in Washington. After her marriage, however, she left her flourishing career and moved to Janesville, Wisconsin, to start a family.
Paul Ryan and his wife Janna Little have three children; a daughter named Elizabeth “Liza” Anne and two sons named Charles Wilson and Samuel Lowery. Liza Ryan is the only daughter of the astute Republican politician. Liza Ryan was born in 2002 and is the oldest of Paul Ryan’s 3 children. Charles Wilson Ryan was born in 2003 and Samuel Lowery was born in November 2004.
