He was the host of his self-titled radio show, The Alan Colmes Show, which was broadcast throughout the United States on Sirius, XM, and Fox News Talk. He grew up in Lynbrook, New York, where he attended a local school. After graduating from high school, he enrolled at the School of Communications at Hofstra University, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1971.

Career

During his time at the university, Colmes worked with the WRHU radio station, and that’s where it all began. After graduating, the talented star began with standup comedy, and later, in 1979, he began his radio career. Colmes began working for various radio stations in New York, including WEVD, WMCA, WHN, WABC, and others. By 1990 his radio shows had become a nationwide syndicate and Colmes continued to grow in popularity in the United States.

However, Alan Colmes made his breakthrough in 1996 when he was hired by Fox News. Together with Sean Hannity, he became co-host of the political program called Hannity & Colmes. In 2003, Colmes began his self-hosting program called The Alan Colmes Show, which was broadcast on Fox Channel until 2017. According to reports, the liberal commentator died of lymphoma on 23 February 2017 at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre in Manhattan. His passing was reported by his wife Jocelyn, who was left heartbroken. The top star seemed to have struggled with the disease for a long time, and in January 2017 he announced that he would take time off from his shows for health reasons he never disclosed.
