Scooter was born Michael Thomas Conforto on 1 March 1993 in Seattle, Washington. He is the son of Michael Anthony Conforto and Tracie Conforto (nee Ruiz). Conforto was born with athletic genes, as both, his parents were active athletes. His mother Tracie is a three-time Olympic medalist in synchronized swimming, while his father Mike played American football with the Penn State Nittany Lions of Pennsylvania State University.

Michael Conforto is not the only one who inherited his parents’ athletic genes like his sister, Jacqueline also has some of them. She played college soccer with the women’s soccer team at Azusa Pacific University. Michael Conforto has Italian and Hawaiian roots on his father’s and mother’s side. He is also of Spanish descent.

Conforto was already an active sportsman before his youth. As a boy, Conforto represented the Northwest Region in the 2004 Little League World Series, the world’s largest youth baseball competition. He attended Redmond High School in Redmond Washington, where he played football as a security sport in addition to baseball. Conforto distinguished himself so much in football that he was recruited by a number of Ivy League schools to play football for their respective teams.

As a baseball player, Conforto also received offers from numerous schools, including the University of Oregon, Oregon State University, Arizona State University, University of Arizona, University of Washington, Washington State, and the prestigious Stanford University.

However, he chose Oregon State University, where he shone in his first year of study when he was named Freshman Hitter of the Year by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA). Among the highlights of his college career are his team’s participation in the College World Series and his promotion to the US Baseball Collegiate National Team in 2013.

After being selected by the New York Mets in the 2014 draft, Conforto received a signing bonus of around $3 million. The following year, he played in the sub-league subsidiaries Brooklyn Cyclones and St. Lucie Mets before advancing to the major leagues in July 2015.

Injuries have affected his performance on several occasions, leading to him being downgraded to the lower leagues, but he manages to keep his career alive. Michael Conforto’s mother, Tracie Lehuanani Ruiz-Conforto, is a celebrated Olympic athlete who won gold twice and silver once. She has won a total of 41 medals at both the national and international levels. She was born on February 4, 1963, in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Tracie had her big breakthrough in synchronized swimming in 1982 when she participated in the World Championships in Guayaquil, Ecuador. At the competitions, she won two medals, both as a soloist. She also impressed at the 1983 Pan American Games, where she won gold in both solo and duel competitions.
