Corey Crawford was born in Chateauguay (Quebec, Canada) on December 31, 1984, the son of Trevor Crawford (father) and Sylvia Crawford (mother). He has an older brother named Trevor Crawford. Crawford speaks both English and French fluently.

As a child, Crawford always aspired to become a professional player in the National Hockey League. He began his pre-teen career with Midget AAA Gatineau Intrepides and later moved to the Moncton Wildcats of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Crawford was the Wildcats’ goalscorer in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) playoffs between 2003 and 2004 when they beat Rimouski Oceanic in the semi-finals of the game to advance to the final of the President Cup but eventually lost to Gatineau Olympiques. In the 2003 NHL rookie draft, the Chicago Blackhawks took 52nd place in the overall standings. Currently, he has the Wildcats record for the most wins, the lowest goals compared to the average, and in the same order of magnitude as Simon Lajeunesse for the most losses in a season.

January 22, 2006, will always be a special day for Corey. It was the day he made his debut in the National Hockey League with the Blackhawks in a game against the Minnesota Wild. His stats were excellent, as he scored 7 saves without conceding a goal.

The following month Corey Crawford had impressed his coach enough to get him into the starting lineup. It was a game against the St. Louis Blues in which Corey parried twenty-nine times and scored 5 goals. The game ended in a penalty shootout in which his team lost 6-5.

Crawford improved over the weeks and scored his first professional win in March 2008 in a game against the Anaheim Ducks that ended in a penalty shootout. He made his Stanley Cup playoff debut in May 2009 in a game against the Detroit Red Wings. He came into the game as a substitute, which was the final of the Western Conference, replacing Cristobal Huet in the second period.

By the 2010-2011 season, Crawford had progressed to the point where he was able to claim the role of Marty Turco’s replacement goalkeeper. Subsequently, he was to replace Marty Turco as a starting goalkeeper. Crawford wrote his name into the history books by winning 8 consecutive games between February 20 and March 5, 2011. This set a new record for the longest winning streak of a newcomer.

Corey holds the record as the Blackhawks’ first goalkeeper to achieve a 30 victory, a feat he accomplished on March 28, 2011. The player was among the six players selected by fan voting for the 2015 National Hockey League All-Star Game. Due to his injuries, he missed a number of games in 2017 and 2018.

Corey Crawford has a long-standing relationship with his girlfriend Kristy Muscolino. Kristy is a deputy account manager at Havas Worldwide. Originally from Chicago, Kristy and Crawford began their relationship sometime in 2014, after the player broke off his engagement to his longtime partner Silvier Cormier.
