Oliver Sykes is a British musician who is best known as the frontman of the rock band “Bring Me to the Horizon”. The band has released five studio albums since its formation in 2004. He is also the founder and owner of an alternative clothing line, Drop Dead Clothing.
Oliver Sykes’ Bio & Age
The frontman of Bring Me to the Horizon (BMTH) was born on November 20, 1986, in Ashford, Kent, England as Oliver Scott Sykes. His parents are Ian and Carol Sykes, and he has an older brother, Tom, with whom he also made music. He moved with his parents to Australia, where they stayed for six years before returning to the UK and settling in Stocksbridge in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, where he attended Stocksbridge High School. His inclination for music began at school, where he carried out several musical projects.
In high school, he began to make compilation CDs and short pieces under the pseudonym Quakebeat. The art turned out to be a huge career forged in the music industry. He played in various bands, but later formed his own group, a rock band called Bring Me to the Horizon in 2004, which became famous within a short time. Other members of the band include Lee Malia, Matt Kean, Matt Nicholls and Jordan Fish. They have released five studio albums, including Count Your Blessings (2006), Suicide Season (2008) and there is a Hell. Believe me, I’ve seen them. There is a Heaven, Let’s Keep It a Secret came in 2010, Others are Heavenly (2013) and This Is the Spirit (2015).
Oliver Sykes does not only concentrate on his group, but he also takes the opportunity to work with other bands whenever they come. His collaboration is independent of whether it’s a band or a solo artist; he crosses boundaries. He appeared as a guest vocalist in the music video Silence Speaks with the English metalcore band While She Sleeps and was briefly featured in the music video for Charli XCX’s song “Boys” along with other artists such as Brendon Urie and Stormzy. Some of the other bands he has worked with include the English rock band You Me at Six, the British metalcore band Architects, the American rock band A Day to Remember, the Australian hardcore band Deez Nuts and the five-piece French band Admirals.
Oliver Sykes was nominated for the “Best International Band 2014” and “Best Album in the Alternative Press” awards. He won the award in both categories. Prior to the Alternative Press Award, BMTH was nominated for the AIM Independent Music Awards 2011 in three different categories, including Independent Breakthrough of Year, Hardest Working Band or Artist and Best Live Act.
His musical influences include punk rock and metalcore bands such as Linkin Park (who inspired him to write music and start his own band after watching them perform at some of their early gigs), Misfit, Simple Plan, and Every Time I Die.
In addition to his musical exploits, Oliver took the entrepreneurial path and founded the alternative clothing line Drop Dead Clothing. Together with Drop Dead Clothing artist Ben Ashton-Bell he also wrote a graphic novel called Raised By Raptors.
Oliver Sykes was married to the model and tattoo artist Hannah Pixie Snowdon. The two got married on July 12, 2015, in Tuscany, Italy, after having been married since 2012, but their relationship was short-lived and ended in a separation in early 2016. After his separation from Hannah, he switched to another model and Instagram star, Brazilian-born Alissa Salls. On July 22, 2017, the musician-model duo exchanged their vows to become man and wife. Alissa was born on November 3, 1997, in São Bento do Sapucaí, São Paulo, Brazil.
Although there is no record of Oliver’s past or present marriage that produced a child, there are some records online of a daughter he fathered. The daughter in question is named Stephanie Marie Sykes, although her mother’s name is not known. However, if you give the number of partners he has had in the past, the report that he has had a child could be true.
