Mike Pompeo Bio, Age
Mike was born on December 30, 1963, in Orange, California, as Michael Richard Pompeo. He was of Italian descent and attended Los Amigos High School in Fountain Valley, California, before attending the United States Military Academy in West Point, where he graduated at the top of his class.
After serving in the army for some time, Pompeo went to Harvard Law School and then worked at the law firm of Washing Williams & Connolly.
Before entering the world of politics, where he would become known, Mike Pompeo first went into business and co-founded an aerospace company, Thayer Aerospace. In the political world, he fought for a seat in the 4th District Congress to represent Kansas under the Republican Party. After winning the party’s primaries, he subsequently defeated Raj Goyle of the Democratic Party. Pompeo would be re-elected in 2012, 2014, and 2016.
Shortly after his victory in the 2016 presidential election, Donald Trump nominated Mike for the post of CIA director. He was sworn in on January 23, 2017, after being confirmed by the US Senate on the same day. Mike would only remain in office for one year before being re-nominated by the President to fill the position of Rex Tillerson after his dismissal as Secretary of State. Pompeo was confirmed as the new Secretary of State on April 26, 2018. Shortly afterward he was sworn in.
