Ever since Donald Trump took power as President of the United States, there has been a fear that the world is heading for nuclear war or even world war as a result of the exchange of words and threats between the American leader and the top leader of North Korea, Kim Jong-un, including the discussion about who has a bigger nuclear button on his desk between the two. Interestingly, it was announced in 2018 that the two presidents would meet to see how they could give peace a chance, something that had never happened before. The man behind the talks is Mike Pompeo.
Mike Pompeo Bio, Age
Mike was born on December 30, 1963, in Orange, California, as Michael Richard Pompeo. He was of Italian descent and attended Los Amigos High School in Fountain Valley, California, before attending the United States Military Academy in West Point, where he graduated at the top of his class.
After serving in the army for some time, Pompeo went to Harvard Law School and then worked at the law firm of Washing Williams & Connolly.
Before entering the world of politics, where he would become known, Mike Pompeo first went into business and co-founded an aerospace company, Thayer Aerospace. In the political world, he fought for a seat in the 4th District Congress to represent Kansas under the Republican Party. After winning the party’s primaries, he subsequently defeated Raj Goyle of the Democratic Party. Pompeo would be re-elected in 2012, 2014, and 2016.
Shortly after his victory in the 2016 presidential election, Donald Trump nominated Mike for the post of CIA director. He was sworn in on January 23, 2017, after being confirmed by the US Senate on the same day. Mike would only remain in office for one year before being re-nominated by the President to fill the position of Rex Tillerson after his dismissal as Secretary of State. Pompeo was confirmed as the new Secretary of State on April 26, 2018. Shortly afterward he was sworn in.
Despite his often busy schedule, Mike Pompeo still finds time to be very religious. If you are wondering what religion Pompeo belongs to, he is a Christian and a member of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church. He is more than just a member, he also teaches in Sunday School, as well as being a deacon.
Wife and Family
Mike’s public life has so dominated his private life. Nonetheless, he’s a married man, and his wife is Susan Pompeo. The interesting thing about her is that she has not been entirely absent from her husband’s public life, especially considering that she has appeared in his campaign commercials as well as some of his public activities in the past.
Before marrying Susan, Mike first married Leslie Liberty in 1986. Unfortunately, the marriage was divorced in 1997.
Susan Pompeo was born and raised in Wichita, Kanas. She attended Wichita State University where she graduated. Susan and Mike have a son together named Nicholas Pompeo.
Height and Weight
Many people know Mike Pompeo and his family as basketball fans, but what they don’t know is that the man played the sport in his youth, even though he did not go pro. What helped him to play basketball is as obvious as his enormous height and build. This is also one of the things that helped him during his rather short career in the military.
That’s all in context. Expressed in numbers, he stands at a height of 5ft 11in. For his weight, this was not stated.
