Andrew McCabe: Biography

On March 18, 1968, Andrew McCabe was born in the capital of Connecticut – Hartford. Nothing is publicly known about his immediate family members or the kind of life he led during his childhood. But for his high school education, McCabe attended Bolles School, a boarding and preparatory school located in Florida. There he graduated in 1986 and then earned a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Duke University, graduating from Duke in 1990.

Andrew McCabe then moved to Washington University, where he earned a Juris Doctor (JD). During his studies at Washington University, he worked as an intern for the Department of Justice in the Criminal Division of the office.

In 1993, Andrew McCabe completed his education. Due to a hiring freeze by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Andrew McCabe spent the first three years of his career working in a Philadelphia law firm. His career in the FBI began in their New York office, where he was assigned as a member of the SWAT team. In 2003, his position was changed to Special Agent Supervisor.

Andrew McCabe has a number of skills that have made him an asset to the proliferation of terrorism and the investigation of such matters. He has worked in senior positions in the FBI’s Counter-Terrorism and National Security Departments. He also helped apprehend one of the suspects in the 2012 Benghazi attack and was part of the team investigating the bombing during the 2013 Boston Marathon, as well as the team investigating the use of certain interrogation techniques within the FBI.

Why Was He Fired?

On January 29, 2016, James Comey, the former director of the FBI, appointed Andrew McCabe as deputy director, a position he held until May 9, 2017, when he was named deputy director following the dismissal of his former boss James Comey by President Trump.

By the time Andrew McCabe became Assistant Director, his wife Jill McCabe was planning to run for a seat in the Virginia Senate; his reporting of this to the FBI was the reason he was able to withdraw from an investigation into Hilary Clinton, as his wife and Clinton are both members of the same party.

When the time came for the appointment of Andrew McCabe as director of the FBI, he was overlooked and Christopher Wray was elected instead. Prior to Wray’s appointment as director, an investigation into Russia’s participation in the 2016 elections had been initiated to support Trump during his campaign, but because of McCabe’s ties to the opposing party to which his wife belongs, Trump always found ways to attack McCabe and accused him of getting into conflict.

These constant attacks and the promise of demotion led to Andrew McCabe’s resignation on January 29, 2018, while he waited for his retirement, which would begin on March 18, 2018 – another thing Trump made fun of.

On March 16, however, Attorney General Jeff Sessions fired McCabe, who was on paid vacation. Because he was fired 26 hours before the end of his service, which qualifies him for immediate payment of his pension, the sack extends the date on which he can draw his pension.
