Kenan Thompson was born in Atlanta, Georgia on May 10, 1978, the second of three children of Fletcher and Elizabeth Ann Thompson. Thompson had an older brother and a younger sister. As a child, he had a knack for acting, and his mother encouraged him to take acting classes, for which he enrolled at Tri-Cities High School, a magnet school for visual and performing arts in East Point, Georgia.
