Anthony Kiedis is an American rock singer, songwriter, and lead singer of the rock’n’roll band Red Hot Chili Peppers. He was born on November 1, 1962, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the son of John Micheal Kiedis and Margaret Noble. He has three siblings from his stepmother, named Julie, Jenny, and James Kiedis. His parents divorced when he was just three years old and he lived with his mother in Michigan. After getting into trouble at school, he moved to Los Angeles to live with his father in 1974. His father made money selling drugs and also did some film acting. Kiedis attended Fairfax High School and changed to the University of California. During his studies, he was exposed to the rough sides of life and he went into the drug business and became addicted to cocaine, heroin, and Quaaludes, which eventually led him to quit college.

Anthony Kiedis’ Career

Kiedis is the founder of the rock band “Red Hot Chili Peppers”, which was founded in 1983. He first formed the band with his friends Hillel Slovak, Micheal Balzore, also known as Flea, and Jack Irons, although they already played in various bands. The group later underwent a line-up change when Slovak and Irons left the band and returned to their other band when they landed a record deal. Kiedis and Flea did not give up on their dream, so they brought in a guitarist, Jack Sherman, and a drummer, Cliff Martinez. The group eventually became known as the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The group’s first debut album was christened “Red Hot Chili Peppers” after their name. The album was released in August 1984 by EMI Records. Many people began to follow the band, although they didn’t make much money from album sales.

Their second album entitled “Freaky Styles” was released a year after the first one, and this time Slovak and Irons returned to the band after Sherman and Martinez were fired. The second album did not sell well either.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers released their third album, “The Uplift Mofo Party Plan” in 1987, which entered the Billboard 200 album charts. Just as success began to trickle in, Kiedis lost his friend and band member Slovak, who died on 25 June 1988 from a heroin overdose. After this tragedy, Irons left the band and Kiedis was sent to a rehabilitation center. After some time had passed, they tried to regroup. Kiedis and Flea added guitarist Blackbyrd McKnight and drummer D.H. Peligro to the group, but when the addition didn’t seem to work, they recoiled and went a different way, adding guitarist John Frusciante and drummer Chad Smith, with whom they recorded “Mothers Milk”. This was the magic as they began to attract more fans and more media attention.

Their fifth album “Blood Sugar Sex Magik” was the one that brought Anthony Kiedis and Chili Peppers fame. The album was produced by Warner Bros., was number 3 on the Billboard 200, and has since sold over 13 million copies worldwide. It included the singles “Under The Bridge”, “Give It Away” and “Suck My Kiss”. In September 1995 their sixth album “One Hot Minute” was released. “Californication” followed in 1999 and was released on June 8th. Further albums of the Red Hot Chili Peppers are “By the Way” (2002), “Stadium Arcadium” (2006), “I’m with You” (2011), and “The Getaway” (2016).

In 2012 the Red Hot Chili Peppers were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They have sold over 80 million records and won six Grammys. Kiedis is also an actor, he starred alongside Sylvester Stallone in the 1978 film F.I.S.T. He also starred in the film Point Break (1991) and in The Chase (1994). The name of Kiedi’s father is John Kiedis, which he later changed to Blackie Dummett. He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on December 7, 1939. Blackie was married to Kiedis’ mother, Peggy, whose real name is Margaret, and they are currently divorced. Kiedis’ father raised wolves and wolf hybrids in Michigan in the 1990s. He lived in Los Angeles, but later, in 2007, moved to Portland. He made money selling drugs and also did some acting.
