Abigail Breslin’s Biography
Born on April 14, 1996, in New York City as Abigail Kathleen Breslin, she is the last of three children of Michael Breslin (father) and Kim Breslin (mother). She was named after Abigail Adams, the second “First Lady” of the United States, and now has two nicknames: Abbie, Miss Sunshine.
Since Abbie was interested in acting and singing at a very young age, she did not have the opportunity to attend school earlier; rather, she was taught at home and received every support from her parents and older siblings, who are both actors – Ryan and Spencer Breslin.
Her career began quite early when she appeared as a chubby three-year-old in a Toys “R” commercial in the U.S., and her cuteness and innocence melted the hearts of the audience. She made her screen debut at the age of six in the 2002 American science fiction thriller Signs, in which she played Mel Gibson’s daughter, a role for which she received awards.
Later that year, Abbie won her first acting role in an American TV sitcom What I Like About You, in which she played Josie in an episode called The Teddy Bear, which, however, did not gain as much popularity. In 2004, however, Abigail starred in four films, Raising Helen, The Princess Diaries 2, Chestnut, Keane, and the popular television series Law & Order, which was highly acclaimed by fans and the general public.

Not only were her acting abilities highly appreciated, but the maturity, self-confidence, and humor with which she interpreted her role in the film were praiseworthy and earned her enthusiastic reviews from someone so young.
She also won the Screen Actors Guild awards, the Best Actress Award at the Tokyo International Film Festival, and the Best Supporting Actress Award from the Film Critics in Iowa. In 2008 she was honored as ShoWest’s “Female Star of Tomorrow”.

Musically, Miss Sunshine released her first single Fight For Me in 2001 and later released other singles, including Christmas In New York and You Suck. Abigail is an avid animal lover; she taught herself to play the guitar on YouTube and has revealed that she could become a fashion designer when she gets older if she stops acting.
