The Miami Heat Small Forward/Shooting Guard was born on September 15th and in 1993 in Edmond, Oklahoma. His parents named him Joshua Michael Richardson after his birth, but some of his buddies prefer to call him “Slim”, “J-Rich” or just “JR”.

1. His College Creer
After Josh’s phenomenal performance in high school, it was no surprise that he continued to play in college with the University of Tennessee-Knoxville volunteers. His assignment in Tennessee spanned the years 2011 to 2015, and although this boy was able to earn a degree in psychology, his achievements in college basketball attracted all the attention. If you compare his records with the volunteers, you’ll find that he played a total of 136 games for the college team he started on, 110 of which were for the college team.
It is said that he was ranked third on the school’s all-time list in terms of the number of games played. More than that, he finished the game with 1252 points that put him in 28th place, 147 steals in 10th place, and 88 blocks that put him in 16th place. All in all, he had a good college career.
2. How He Began His Professional Career
The Miami Heat came for Josh Richardson during the 2015 NBA Draft and voted him into the second round with the 40th. He then signed a 3-year contract with the site in August. Josh was not able to make friends with the team right away as he was assigned to the NBA G-League’s Sioux Falls Skyforce in December. Fortunately, he was called back the next month and this was the beginning of his steady success in the NBA.
In the 2015-16 season and the 2016-17 season, Josh participated in a total of 105 games, in which he played only 36 matches, scored an average of 8.4 points, and scored 40 double digits. As you will learn later, this is not the only major highlight of his career. Anyway, JR was such a remarkable player for the Heat that the team decided to grant him a four-year contract extension worth $42 million. That was sometime in September 2017.

Josh Richardson has been an outstanding B player since his school days. Remember we mentioned that he received the first-team honor from Oklahoma’s Super 5 team and was appointed to the Large West All-State Team before he left high school? In college, this basketball player made the SEC All-Defensive Team, especially in 2014 and 2015. He also made the first all-SEC team in the latter year.
