To say that Heath Ledger is an acting legend would be, to put it mildly. Although the actor was only twenty-eight years old when he died, he had already achieved icon status by appearing as a cult figure in iconic films. His most famous role is undoubtedly his role as “The Joker” in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight versus Christian Bales Bruce Wayne/Batman. His portrayal of the crazy villain was widely and critically acclaimed and posthumously earned the actor an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, making him the first comic-film actor to win an Oscar. There is a reason why he was called one of the best actors of his generation.
He has also starred in several other films, including 10 Things I Hate About Youn (1999), Brokeback Mountain (2005), The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (2009), I’m Not There (2007), Monster’s Ball (2001), Lords of Dogtown (2005), The Patriot and A Knight’s Tale (2003).
Although he was an actor, Heath Ledger aspired to the position of director later in his career. It is a great sadness that the world has lost such an amazing talent so early.
