She made her film debut in 1994 at the age of six in When a Man Loves a Woman. She was chosen from 700 other potential candidates for the role of Meg Ryan’s youngest daughter in the film. In her first 10 years as an actress, she starred in several other high-profile films including Independence Day and One Fine Day. In a career that would be heavily influenced by television appearances, she began by appearing in three episodes of the cult classic Friends.
