Madison Michelle Pettis was born on 22 June 1998 in Arlington, Texas. Her parents are Steven Pettis and Michelle Pettis. Steven is African American, while her mother, Michelle, is of Irish, Italian, and French descent.

Madison’s career began in an industry not normally associated with children – model making. ForthWorthChild, a local parenting magazine, conducted an annual cover search. Madison’s mother heard about it and took Madison on the search. This was the step that triggered her later roles as a model and actress in commercials. It was also all professional because the young Madison Pettis had an agent and a website for her services. At that time she was just five years old.

She soon secured a role as the lovely Bridget at Barney & Friends. In the show, she did a lot of theatre, dancing, and singing. One of her remarkable performances as a model was for Love Pastry with Alli Simpson and the musician Cody Simpson.

In 2007 Madison was portrayed as Bailey Bryant in the film FreeStyle. In the 2008 film Mostly Ghostly: Who Let the Ghosts Out? she was supposed to play the leading role as ghost Tara Roland. In 2009 Madison Pettis appeared on the game show Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? as herself. In 2011 she was involved in the production of Jake and the Neverland Pirates with the voice of Izzy. In the same year, she became internationally known by starring Allie Brookes in Life With Boys, a Canadian television series. She was also Lala in Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2 and its sequel in 2012.

In 2014 she announced that she would have a guest appearance in the film The Fosters. In 2015 Pettis would play another vocal role in The Lion Guard and The Lion Guard: The Return of the Roar. In 2016 Madison played a role in the TV movie Late Bloomer, in which she played the character, Frankie. She also had individual episode appearances in The Real O’Neals and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
