Kevin Scott Nash was born on July 9, 1959, in Detroit, Michigan, and received his high school education at Aquinas High School. While studying psychology at the University of Tennessee, Kevin played for the school’s basketball team. After his time in Tennessee, he started his professional career in Germany and played for various teams until his career was interrupted by an injury of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). At that time he played for the Giessen 46ers, a German professional basketball team.

Between basketball and wrestling, the aspiring professional wrestler had a number of jobs. He was a NATO employee, assembly line worker at the Ford Motor Company, and floor manager of a strip club.

Professional Wrestling Career

Nash’s professional career began in 1990 with the World Wrestling Championship (WCW). Throughout his time at WCW, he was part of the short-lived tag team known as Master Blasters, and part of a large stable known as A Half-Ton of Holy Hell. In his solo career, he wrestled under various gimmicks, including The Master Blaster, Oz, and Vinnie Vegas.

He left WCW and joined WWF in 1993 under the stage name Diesel (aka Big Daddy Cool). Nash teamed up with Shawn Michaels as Tag-Team Two Dudes with Attitudes. Together they won the WWF Tag Team Championship. As a lone fighter, Kevin Nash also won the WWF Intercontinental Championship and the WWF World Heavyweight Championship during this period.

Kevin Nash returned to the WCW in 1996, after signing a lucrative contract with the promotion. Here he was a member of three overlapping stables. Nash and Scott Hall formed tag team The Outsiders, with whom they won the WCW World Tag Team Championship. Both men also belonged to the nWo stable with Hulk Hogan and Sean Waltman, while the trio Nash, Hall, and Sean was also known as Wolfpac in 1997. After the dissolution of nWo, Kevin and Hogan became the leaders of nWo Wolfpac and nWo Hollywood respectively, recruiting new fighters into their ranks.

Nash won his first WCW Heavyweight World Championship in 1998 against Goldberg and won it 9 times in total with the promotion, the last title being won in 2001.

After the takeover of the WCW by the WWF, Nash returned to the WWF in 2002. During his second promotion, he suffered long periods of injury before ending his time at WWF in January 2004. From November 2004, Nash spent the next seven years at Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), where he won a host of titles, including a tag team championship title and two legends championship titles.

In 2011 Kevin Nash signed a five-year contract with WWE. The fighting legend has also been building an acting career since 1991 when he made his debut in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze.

He also played the role of the “Russian” in the Marvel-inspired film The Punisher in 2004. Other films and series appearances include Magic Mike (2012), John Wick (2014), Sabrina, The Teenage Witch (1997), and Living the Dream (2017). He has also appeared as a playable character in twenty-two WWE video games from 1994 to 2018.

Kevin married Tamara in 1988 and they stayed together until 2000 when their relationship went through a difficult phase. They separated, but eventually reconciled and have been together ever since. Their union produced a child, a son named Tristen Nash. He was born on June 12, 1996.
