Josh Radnor is an American actor known for his portrayal of Ted Mosby in How I Met Your Mother – an Emmy Award-winning series on CBS Network. But Josh is not just an actor, he is also a writer and director. His debut film, both as a writer and director, was Happythankyoumoreplease – starring Zoe Kazan, Kate Mara, Pablo Schreiber, Tony Hale, and Malin Åkerman. The film told the story of a group of New Yorkers who try to find a balance between friendship, love, and adulthood.
Happythankyoumoreplease was a critically acclaimed film and won the audience award at the Sundance Film Festival. It was also nominated for the Grand Jury Prize.
As the success of his first film was still fresh, he wrote and directed a second film – Liberal Arts, starring Elizabeth Olsen, which also received positive reviews. Liberal Arts premiered at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival and will direct The Leaves, a science fiction thriller film.
He later appeared as Dr. Jedediah Foster in Mercy Street, an American television series about civil war dramas. He was cast in Off Centre, a comedy in the WB series, but was recast before the first episode aired and Eddie Kaye Thomas took the role. In 2004 he appeared in The Paris Letter opposite Neil Patrick Harris, with whom he also appeared in How I Met Your Mother.
After taking his talents off the screen, Josh Radnor appeared in the Broadway play Disgraced, which was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Play. He made his Broadway debut, however, in an adapted version of the 1967 film hit, The Graduate. He also remained in the play Finks, directed by Charlie Stratton and written by Joe Gilford.
He also plays in a band with Ben Lee, an Australian musician, and actor. The two have released an album together – Radnor & Lee.

Joshua Thomas Radnor was born on July 29, 1974, in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Alan and Carol Radnor. His father was a medical malpractice attorney, while his mother was a high school career counselor. He also has two sisters, Joanna Radnor Vilensky and Melanie Radnor.
The actor grew up in Bexley, Ohio, and attended Columbus Torah Academy and several other Orthodox Jewish day schools. He grew up in a conservative Jewish household.
The actor attended Bexley High School for his secondary education. He also attended Kenyon College – where he was awarded the Paul Newman Prize by the school’s theatre department.
