Australian actor Jai Stephen Courtney was born on March 15, 1986, the son of middle-class parents, a father who worked for a state electricity company, and a mother who was a public school teacher. He grew up in Cherrybrook, although he was born in Sydney, New South Wales.
His educational background was spread across several schools, culminating in a degree from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in 2008.
Before completing his education, he starred in a controversial short film called Boys Grammar in 2005. Immediately after graduation he secured a role in an Australian series, Packed to the Rafters, and had guest roles in All Saints and To Hell & Bourke, a popular Australian comedy film.
In 2010 he had his first role in a Hollywood project, Spartacus: Blood and Sand. Jai Courtney was cast as a macho-action man and his roles were limited to playing different versions of a tough guy. He appeared in Me, Frankenstein as the leader of the gargoyle army, Divergent as the leader of the Faction of the Intrepid, and Terminator Genisys as one of the main characters – Kyle Reese.
