Mike Holmes alias Big Mike is a Canadian businessman who has made a name for himself in the field of design and construction, a craft he learned from his father when he was just 6 years old. When he was in his teens, Holmes had started his first construction company with 13 employees. In 2003, he came into the spotlight when he started a television show called Holmes on Homes, a DIY show on HGTV in which he tries to save homeowners in Ontario and Toronto from bad renovations.
The show’s success sparked several other similar home improvement programs, including one in which he restored homes damaged in natural disasters. Holmes’ contributions to construction have helped set the standard for homes in Canada, saving money and lives in the long term. In 2010 he was named the second most trusted person in Canada. Some of his current exhibitions include Holmes Inspection, Holmes Makes It Right, and Best of Holmes on Homes. He can also be seen on HGTV’s Handyman Superstar Challenge and All American Handyman, where he serves as a judge.
Is Mike Holmes Married, Who Is His Wife?
When Mike Holmes first came to television in 2003 with his debut show Holmes on Homes, he didn’t do it alone but brought his family with him. However, the family included three children without a mother, which raises questions about Mike’s marital status. Well, Mike had nothing to hide, as the answers quickly came to light.

As a young boy, Mike fell in love with his childhood sweetheart Alexandra Lorex. In 1982, at the age of 19, Mike married Lorex. The marriage was blessed with three children and lasted blissfully until the 1990s when Canada was hit by a terrible recession.
As a result of the recession, Mike lost many of his businesses and possessions, and it wasn’t long before the financial difficulties he faced began to weigh on his marriage. Over the same period, Mike lost both parents in rapid succession, which exacerbated his problems. He and Alexandra later divorced when Mke was in his thirties.
Since that divorce, Mike has never been married again. In 2000, however, he started dating a certain woman named Anna Zappia, and the two have been together ever since. Mike has attended many red carpet events with Anna at his side, including the Baeumler Family Foundation 2014. Not much is known about Anna, but it is a known fact that she is also Canadian.
Although Mike and Anna have not yet entered into marriage, they have lived together for years and Mike sometimes refers to her as his wife. They have no children together and it does not seem to be in their plan.
His Daughter and Family Life
As can be seen in his many DIY shows, Mike Holmes is a man who takes family very seriously. Since his first and only marriage, Mike has had three children, all born before Mike was 25 years old. His family includes son Mike Holmes jr. and daughters – Sherry Holmes and Amanda Holmes.
Mike Holmes Jr. followed in his father’s footsteps to become a master builder. By the time he was 13 years old, he was already working with his father in his construction company. Mike Jr. was born on July 25, 1989. During his high school years, Brocken played on the university rugby team. In August 2017, he married his childhood sweetheart Lisa Grant in a romantic outdoor wedding attended by approximately 120 guests.
Unlike her brother, Sherry was not originally a big fan of construction. She is more interested in everything that has to do with traveling and helping people. Originally, she declined her father’s request to participate in his television show about construction but changed her mind when it came to helping the victims of Hurricane Katrina rebuild their homes.

Since then, Sherry has continued to be involved in construction, helping low-income families build affordable homes, among other selfless efforts. Born on June 21, 1987, Sherry was engaged to Blake Steed in June 2017. Mike’s other daughter Amanda has an interest in fitness and is married with at least two children.
