Gio Gonzalez Biography

He was born on September 19, 1985, as Giovany Aramis González in Hialeah, Florida, and grew up with his two other brothers with their parents, Yolanda Cid-Gonzalez and Max Gonzalez of Cuban descent. His parents were very poor and had to make many sacrifices to support them. Among other things, they took on menial jobs that Gio talked about, to remember how far he came from nothing.

For his education, he graduated from Monsignor Edward Pace High School, to which he transferred after starting at Hialeah High School. During his school days, he played a great show and as such, he skipped college for professional baseball and was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the 2004 MLB Draft.

Career and Stats

Soon after he was selected by the White Sox, Gio Gonzalez was traded alongside two others for Jim Thome at the Philadelphia Phillies. This won’t take as long as next year, the White Sox would get him back through a trade.

He played in the Minor League until he was called up to the Major League in 2008 to play for the Oakland Athletics, who got him back from the White Sox through a trade. Gio remained on the team until 2012 when he was traded to the Washington Nationals in 2012.

So far Gonzalez has had a great career, with 2 appearances on the All-Star Team in 2011 and 2012, the same year he also won the NL victory.

As there is no wedding date yet, Gonzalez and Berenice are referred to as husband and wife, although some say they may have had a secret wedding. The marriage has two children. The name of the first, born in 2016, is Enzo, while the name of the second is not known.

Before he met and settled down with his wife, there was a rumor that the pitcher was said to have a relationship with American footballer Angela Rypien. The rumor arose after the duo was discovered together and Angela, who was born in 1991, left some clues that the two were together. It wasn’t long before Gio denied the rumor and declared that he had only invited her to watch his game.
