After his professional ice hockey debut with the Continental Hockey League (KHL) tractor Chelyabinsk in 2009, Evgeny Kuznetsov moved to the National Hockey League (NHL) to play for the all-conquering Washington Capitals. He started with a flyer and scored his first – albeit short-lived – goal against the Los Angeles Kings. Evgeny Kuznetsov’s first assignment for a Russian team came when he represented the country’s youth team at the 2010 Junior Ice Hockey World Championship in Canada. During the preliminary round match against Austria, he was voted “Man of the Match” due to his two-goal contribution.
