Dr. Dre Wiki/Bio
Dr. Dre was born on February 18, 1965, in Compton, California, United States of America. His birth name is Andre Romelle Young. His parents are Theodore and Verna Young. His father, Theodore, sang in an amateur music group called ‘Rolls’ and impregnated his mother, Verna, when she was still in high school, although they are eventually married.
His parents divorced after 8 years of marriage; this probably influenced his attitude towards marriage. He is not consistent with women as his Casanova lifestyle is responsible for the fact that he has fathered seven children out of five women and only marries one of them. Despite a challenging childhood and early life, he found comfort in music from an early age.
Dre attended Vanguard Junior High School in Compton. Because of the gang violence and riots during this period, particularly the Watts riots of 1965, he transferred to other high schools. He attended Roosevelt Junior High School, Chester Adult School in Compton and then tried radio broadcasting school. He also attended Centennial High School in Compton in 1979 before moving to Fremont High School in South Central Los Angeles because of his poor grades. Dre applied for a training program with the Northrop Aviation Company and was rejected, but the music never turned him down.
Dr. Dre Wife
Dre is married to Nicole Threatt, who was born in the United States on 1 January 1970. She is a lawyer, but she no longer practices law, as she is married to one of the biggest names in American hip-hop with net assets of $740 million. There is no information about her parents, her childhood or her educational background.
Her marriage to Dr. Dre is her second marriage. Nicole was previously married to NBA star player (now retired) Sedale Threatt. She met Dre when she was still married to Threatt. The story she hides behind the separation from her ex-husband for her current husband Dre is common knowledge. Dre made a fight of his desire to make Nicole his own, even though she was still married at the time. He wrote her a decisive letter in which he made it clear to her that she should leave her husband and marry.
Nicole married Dr. Dre in 1996 after leaving Death Row Records to start his own label, Aftermath Entertainment. She has two children for the rapper – a son, Truice, and a daughter, although she really has none for her former husband. Their first child, Truce, was born in 1997, a year after they tied the knots, while their daughter Truly was born in 2001. The rap icon’s only wife, she is the stepmother of Dr. Dre’s other five children: Curtis Young, La Tanya Danielle Young, Tyra Young, Marcel Young, and the late Andre Young Jr., who died of a drug overdose in 2008.
Dr. Dre Net worth
As the race for the first hip-hop billionaire, entrepreneur, rapper, record producer and multiple Grammy award winners draws nearer, Dr. Dre is not far off. With an estimated net worth of $740 million (as of 2017), he is only $260 million ahead of the finish line. He expanded his wealth with the Aftermath record label, Beats headphones and the HP laptop line.
Dr. Dre has not released a new album in the last 10 years. Many may think that this is a downward spiral for the musician, but that would end too quickly. The legendary rapper and producer has an uncanny interest in business and investment and has benefited enormously from his efforts. In addition to discovering, promoting and introducing young talent to the superstar, as he has done with 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and many others, his business interests are wide-ranging.
Dr. Dre launched his first headphone brand, Beats Electronics, in July 2008. It is a line of outstanding headphone technology consisting of Beats Solo & Solo HD; Beats Tour; Beats Studio; Beats Spin; Diddy Beats and Heartbeats by Lady Gaga.
In August 2011, Dr. Dre allegedly sold 50% of the Beats audio and electronics line to Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer HTC for $310 million. This deal added $135 million to his assets, which were estimated at $125 million at the time. In May 2014, Apple then bought the Beats line for a whopping $3 billion, which led Dre to declare himself “the first billionaire in hip-hop”, but in reality, his net worth only increased to $550 million.
