Dillon Brooks is a professional basketball player of Canadian descent who is currently under contract as a minor striker with the Memphis Grizzlies of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Dillon Brooks was born on January 22, 1996, in Mississauga, Ontario. While studying at Henderson International School in Nevada, he began playing his favorite sport, basketball, on the Findley Prep team. After graduating, he was accepted to the University of Oregon, where he began his career as a college basketball player. In his first year at the institution, he was appointed to the All-Freshman team of the Pac 12 conference after achieving an impressive average of 11.5 points per game.

In his second year, Dillon Brooks was an exceptional team player, leading his teammates and the Ducks in general to tenth (10) place in the national rankings. This also enabled the Ducks to win the regular seasonal title of the Pac-12 Conference. At the end of the season, Sporting American News named Dillon Brooks both the third All-American team and the first All-Pac-12 team.

With an average of 3.1 assists, 5.4 rebounds, and 16.7 points per game, he was named District IX Player of the Year by the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA). Dillon Brooks later decided to stay back in Oregon for a third season after the successful completion of the 2015-2016 season. Unfortunately, he suffered a foot injury in the summer of 2016 that caused him to miss the trip to Spain during the Oregon off-season.

Nevertheless, on November 7, 2016, his performance at the time led to his strict appointment to the Associated Press All-America Team for the 2016 preseason. Subsequently, at the end of the 2016-2017 season, he ended his college career and hired an agent after declaring his eligibility for the 2017 NBA draft.

With this announcement, he was brought to the attention of many scouts. He was then drafted with the 45th pick of the Houston Rockets in the 2017 NBA Draft but was transferred to the Memphis Grizzlies on July 21, 2017, not long after his draft. This contract with the Grizzlies took the form of a three-year rookie deal. As with his previous performances and successes on his high school and college teams, Dillon came through with 19 points in the season opener with the Grizzlies. Interestingly, this result was recorded as the most points scored by a player of Canadian descent in an NBA debut.

Not much is known about Dillon Brooks’ family, and we attribute this to his desire to keep his family members out of the spotlight, knowing how unpleasant it is when the media is sometimes curious.
