Anthony Brown’s Bio
Anthony Jamar Brown was born on October 22, 1981, in Baltimore, Maryland. His destiny was clear from birth, as his father is a musician and pastor, and his mother is a singer. It was to be expected that he became interested in music at the tender age of 3, and by elementary school, he had already begun to write and sing his own songs. He received his high school education at the Baltimore School for the Arts, where he studied classical music and other art forms.
He received his college education at Morgan State University, where he formed his first music group, Answered Prayers, in 2000. Brown, along with other members of the group, honed their talents by performing in various programs for which they gained some popularity in their local community. He also honed his songwriting skills, working with some of the biggest names in the music industry. Among his most important achievements is the former Billboard No. 1 hit “It Ain’t Over”, which he wrote for Maurette Brown-Clark and which officially catapulted him into the league of prolific songwriters.
Anthony Brown finally dropped out of college after 4 years to pursue a full-time music career. Initially, he worked in the background, either as a producer or writer, and his clients included Myron Butler, Donald Lawrence, Brown-Clark, and several others. He also served as Assistant Minister of Music at his home church First Baptist Church of Glen Arden. His 10-piece backup crew “Group TherApy” is an offshoot of his college band, to which several new members have joined. The group performed at 3 editions of the annual gospel music festival “Celebration of Gospel” on the BET network.
Brown’s debut album of the same name “Anthony Brown & Group TherApy” was released on Tyscot Records in 2012. Among other contributors, the album included contributions from VaShawn Mitchell and Maurette Brown Clark. The album’s hit, “Testimony”, helped put the singer and his crew on the map of gospel music. It also earned him 2 Stellar Awards out of 11 nominations and he was also nominated for a Dove Award.
In 2015, the multi-talented music star exceeded the success of his debut album with the release of his second album Everyday Jesus. The album proved to be a commercial mega-success and also earned him numerous awards. The album’s lead single “Worth” spent an amazing 26 weeks at the top of the Billboard Gospel Airplay charts. Brown received his first Grammy Award nomination for Best Gospel Performance/Song, 3 Billboard Music Award nominations, and one BET Award nomination. He also won 2 Dove Awards and an unprecedented number of 10 awards from 10 nominations at the 2016 Stellar Gospel Music Awards.
In July 2017, Anthony Brown raised his profile with the release of his third studio album, A Long Way From Sunday, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top Gospel Album Chart. The multi-talented music star has proven that he is the complete package in gospel music thanks to his unique vocals, superior songwriting, and music production skills.
Family Life Of The Gospel Artist
In contrast to his flourishing music career, Anthony Brown keeps his private life pretty much to himself. It is known that he is married, but the identity of his partner is not well known. In some circles, it is suspected that his wife is a member of his backup group, but these reports have not been confirmed. It is also unclear whether the couple has children, as other details about the gospel singer’s private life are kept under wraps.
Anthony Brown has remained relevant to the music industry for a long time due to the complexity of his talents. Since the release of his debut album in 2012, he has also achieved tremendous commercial success. The multi-talented gospel artist also has his own clothing line “Mercy Life + Apparel”. However, his exact fortune is currently unknown.
