Allie Grant Biography
Allie Grant was born on Valentine’s Day in 1994 in Tupelo, Mississippi. She is the daughter of Bob and Angie Grant. Even when she was very young, Grant knew that she wanted to be an entertainer and her parents supported her all the way.
By the age of 3, she had already been to the Model and Talent Expo in Dallas, Texas. Allie remembered that as a child growing up in a family with very funny people, she had developed the habit of imitating the things she saw and trying to learn different accents by doing so.
In high school, Grant attended several school plays. However, her love of acting and her busy schedule for acting did not affect her academic career as Allie became the valedictorian of her 2011 graduating class.
Grant officially began her career in 2005, just before she turned 11. Her first performances were appearances on two of Disney’s biggest shows at the time – The Suite Life by Zack & Cody and That’s So Raven. In the former, she appeared in 4 episodes and played the character Agnes, who had a crush on both Zack and Cody. Her favorite and most memorable episode of the series, she said, was the one that included a game scene in which they had to fight.
the style in 2005 Allie was given the role of Isabelle Hodes in Weeds. Her role as Isabelle Hodes was originally intended to be a recurring role, but after the first and second seasons, the role was upgraded to a lead role after Grant’s impeccable portrayal of the lesbian daughter of Celia and Dean Hodes for Seasons 3, 4 and 5 in 2009. Grant appeared in a total of 8 episodes. The dark comedy-drama was to last 8 seasons and end in 2012.
As part of the cast of the series, Grant received a nomination from the Screen Actor’s Guild (SAG) twice, in 2007 and 2009, for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a comedy series.
After their Weeds concert ended, Grant made her film debut in the comedy Fanboys. Her role as the curly-haired Kimmy was only a small part. In Fanboys, well-known names like Jay Baruchel, Dan Fogler, and Kristen Bell appeared. Veteran actor William Shatner had a cameo appearance in the film. The film was a commercial flop, earning only $960,000 from a budget of nearly $4 million.
Also in 2009, Grant made her stage debut in How I Learned to Drive at the Chandler Theater Studio in North Hollywood. Her other performances in 2010 included the film The Runaways and a guest role as Julie in Private Practice. Grant then enrolled in a summer program at the renowned Harvard University.
Her next major appearance was the lead role of Lisa Shay in Suburgatory, an ABC sitcom that was to air three seasons and 57 episodes before being canceled. Of those, Grant’s character appeared in 52 episodes. In 2012, she took the time to play the role of Remy in the comedy-drama movie Struck by Lightning, which starred Chris Colfer. Like her debut film, Struck by Lightning was a box office hit.
Since then, Grant seems to have turned her focus to the small screen. She made guest appearances in the Red Band Society (2014 episode “Know Yourself”) and in Grey’s Anatomy’s 2015 episode “How to Save a Life”. Grant had a recurring role in The Goldbergs as Evelyn Silver for 9 episodes from 2015 – 2016.
She was given the role of Melinda in the comedic web television series All Night, which premiered on Hulu in May 2018.
